We adore live theater, crave being on an indie film set, improv our way out of trouble, write plays, write scripts, perform as puppeteers, act, direct, mentor younger creatives, and simply can't get enough.
Pittsburgh born and raised, Apryl holds a Bachelor of Arts in Drama from Edinboro University and improv training through Arcade Comedy Theater. She brings to the SFP board 21 years of Non Profit experience focusing on Education, Customer Service and Sales. If she’s not at the theater you can always find Apryl enjoying live music with her husband Brad or curled up with a good book!
Duncan, a third-generation advertising executive, aspired to be an actor at an early age and is now pursuing his dream. He has recently been featured in several theater productions, as well as independent and student films. He continues to hone his craft at Donna Belajac studios. Duncan previously served on the boards of Phipps Conservatory, the Pittsburgh Advertising Federation and the Media Association of Pittsburgh. He and his wife Sarah live in Point Breeze and are over the moon for their granddaughter Amelia.
Tricia Eichler is a welcome addition to our board for 2023! Tricia has a background in education, arts administration, and theatre. She has been a theatre and English instructor at Butler County Community College since 2011. Ms. Eichler’s love of directing and performing leads her to try to be active in community theatre. Her favorite role is as parent to a teen and two young adults. Ms. Eichler was excited to see live theatre return from the pandemic shutdowns and performed last summer in a farce with The Red Barn Players in Zelienople. In addition, she was lucky enough to perform in her first puppet show this summer where she formed a quick bond with Veronica White. Tricia is excited and honored to accept a position on the board and looks forward to getting to know the people and the organization while working on artistic projects!
President, Treasurer, and founder of Stoops Ferry Productions. This venture has been exhilarating, terrifying, and an incredible learning experience. It is also an astonishing amount of work! Most of all, it has been a creative joy and a lot of fun. I am grateful for friends old and new, mentors, and all the good people who have been a part of this incredible journey. I am looking forward to 2023! Thank you.
Kate has been part of Stoops Ferry Productions since 2018 and has served as a board member since 2020. Level headed and generous, Kate assists with community partnership development, our diversity initiatives, provides HR support, and is in charge of the wine. We are beyond thrilled to put Kate back on stage in our 2023 spring show!
Spring 2022 we combined our community outreach efforts with our one act play productions to bring 'A Fish Screams at Wanda' a collection of one-act plays to the auditoriums at Chartier's Bend and South Hills Square Retirement Resorts. This was a smashing success! Our Dec 2019 event 'Holidays, Families, and other Bonfires' featuring 7 one act plays and 11 actors at Anchor & Anvil in Coraopolis was another successful evening of live theater for us!
We have put out multiple 48 hour film project pieces including: 'Out of Water', 'The Last Will and Testament of our Super-Dead Super-Dad', 'The Dick', and 'Cold Read'. Our RMU intern, John Proper's wrestling documentary was very well received. Our independent film 'Secret Santa' was shot in early Spring 2019, and is in the post-production hell phase. Our first short film 'Childlike' was completed in 2018.
We believe in cross-pollination of ideas. We love working with different groups, meeting new people, and trying new approaches. We often bring in younger folks to provide inter-generational experiences or a college intern. You will find us working with other groups and productions in addition to our own. Let's keep it going. A rising tide lifts all boats.
Can a community theater and indie filmmaking group ever have enough volunteers? If you are interested in helping us out please email Veronica at info@stoopsferryproductions.com
