But to Agnes’s dismay, her latest runaway, Mary Anne, is beginning to influence Agnes’s college-bound daughter Penny. As the drums of a feminist revolution grow louder outside of Agnes’s tiny world, Agnes is forced to confront her own presumptions about the women she’s spent her life trying to help. As one of the oldest domestic violence centers in the country, we meet survivors where they are, offering resources and support to help survivors and their families escape abusive relationships and build new lives.
Last year, Women’s Center & Shelter served over 7,500 adult survivors and children through our many programs and services. Using the Sanctuary Model, we support each individual survivor to shape the services they use based upon their needs and experiences.
Crisis Center North is a 501(c)(3) non-profit counseling and resource center that provides services to victims of domestic violence and their loved ones in northern and western Allegheny County
Since 1981 Arise has been the community’s response to violence and abuse, serving victims of Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, and Other Serious Crimes.
As the only domestic violence emergency shelter and sexual assault agency in Lawrence County, the agency’s comprehensive programming serves to address many client needs under one roof.
Our services are free to all victims in Lawrence County and surrounding communities regardless of gender, race, age, sexual orientation, income level, or disability.
Annually, the agency serves nearly 1500 victims/survivors in a county with a population of just over 91,000. Staff reaches nearly 5000 students with age-appropriate prevention education each year ranging from pre-school to college ages and nearly 1200 community members with awareness/intervention training.
One of the most powerful solutions to ending the generational cycle of violence has proven to be the agency’s transitional housing program, where families have adequate time to learn the skills of independence.
Your contribution matters! Every day, DVSSP works to empower survivors and reassure them that they deserve to be safe and free from violence. By supporting our mission, you are helping survivors of domestic violence who may feel alone and providing them the comfort of knowing there is a safe place to go.
